2019年8月14日示威當中，警方在晚上約 10 時開始在深水埗清場，多次發射催淚彈，即使街道幾無示威者聚集，警方也不斷發射，更射向有街坊途經、商店仍未關門的橫街。有讀者提供片段，顯示有催淚彈射進了位於福榮街桂林街交界的一家食肆。

警方於山東街、彌敦道交界使用警棍，有人被擊中頭部流血。影片能清楚展示有人頭部受傷，用警棍擊中示威者的頭部可以造成致命傷害。這涉嫌違反《公安條例》第17條中，表明警務人員在阻止公眾聚集舉行，或停止或解散公眾聚集時，只可以使用「合理所需的武力」。而過份武力對待被拘捕人士，在沒有合理辨解下，亦可能違反《侵害人身罪條例》各條。
