在2019年10月1日，當記者上前詢問傷者名字時，有一名躲於彌敦道中間花槽的持槍蒙面速龍警員，突然向兩名記者開冷槍，總共朝記者上半身連開3至4槍，幸記者及時伏下閃避，未有中彈。
